Drywood Mountain, East Ridges

Region: Castle

Distance: 6 km

Elevation gain: 500 m or 1600 feet

Rating: Off-trail hike, some scrambling

Estimated hiking time: 3 to 4 hours

Description: There are two main ridges on the east side of Drywood Mountain that make a nice shoulder season hike. The trip starts at the second gated access road south of the intersection at Butcher Lake (west of the Shell Plant). Ascend one of the main ridges and descend the other. The east accesses to the ridges are steep and can be difficult to navigate if wet or snowy. There are several route options available, and it may also be possible to scramble to the peak from this direction, depending on conditions.
