General Trip Information

Hikes and Skis:
Please register with the coordinator of the outing between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. on the evening before the trip. To facilitate carpooling, please arrive at the meeting place 5 - 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time. If it is your first Chinook Outdoor Club outing, please ask the coordinator about carpooling arrangements.

All distances are round-trip. Elevation gains and distances are approximate. Scheduled trips may be changed because of weather conditions, and may become more difficult.

Whether hiking or skiing, come prepared with adequate waterproof boots and warm clothing (e.g., toque, mitts, fleece jacket, anorak, long underwear, waterproof over-pants). Bring a lunch and adequate fluids (e.g. hot tea, water). Please check with the coordinator to see whether any other gear is needed (e.g. ice axe, avalanche shovel, skins, transceiver). See more detail about this topic under our Tips for Trips and Equipment sections on this website.

Reminder: In the interest of safety, stay together as a group with your coordinator. Please see our Tips for Trips and Trip Rules for more detailed safety information.

Coordinators:
Non-members must sign a Guest Waiver/Membership form before leaving the town point of departure for a trip. If you need blank waiver forms, contact our Hike Coordinator. Please turn in trip logs to Hike Coordinator.

Meeting Places:

University of Lethbridge : northwest corner of Lot E (Far West parking lot), near Hepler Hall

Other Information Regarding our Schedule:
Check with the coordinator as outings shown here may be changed depending on snow and trail conditions.

Make sure you arrive 5 - 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time to allow time to form carpools and stow gear.

Drivers:

Make sure that everyone in your car has the same plans for the day as you do before you leave Lethbridge. Some people like après-ski/hike more than others or would like to stay out longer!

Border Crossings:

As of June 1, 2009, the U.S. requires a valid passport. For more information about U.S. entry requirements, consult the U.S. Department of Homeland Security website.  Also check with the hike coordinator for any restrictions such as bear spray, food, fruit etc.
